Detailed itinerary
Day 1
Arrive Arusha, Tanzania
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Your guide meets you at the airport and escorts you to tonight’s lodge in Arusha.
Accommodation: Legendary Lodge
There's no better haven in which to bookend your Tanzania visit than the Legendary Lodge, where you can begin and end your trip in a cottage with a private verandah overlooking Mount Meru. Just 10 minutes away from the Arusha Airport, the lodge is both conveniently and beautifully located in a lush tropical garden surrounded by a working coffee farm.
Day 2
Lake Manyara National Park
Start your journey to Lake Manyara National Park, a destination famously held dear to Hemingway. Upon taking in the scenery of the groundwater forest, you quickly realize why he named it his favorite park in all of Africa. Expert guides give you the chance to see elusive tree-climbing lions resting after a successful hunt, hippos cooling off in the water, and flamingoes flocking together in their natural habitat.
After a day of exploration, you retire to your lodge, which offers the epitome of safari elegance. Relax by the outdoor swimming pool with a sundowner in hand or head to bed to rest up for tomorrow’s adventures.
Accommodation: Gibb's Farm
Gibb’s Farm (Travel + Leisure World’s Best List #1 African Safari Lodge 2017 and 2018). After a full day of exploration, relax in your eco-friendly cottage, set amidst the farm’s lush gardens. Enjoy an outdoor shower, in-room spa treatment, farm-to-table dining, and learning about local culture from the attentive staff.
Days 3-4
Ngorongoro Crater
Head to the Ngorongoro Crater floor, the world’s premier wildlife destination. Explore the area on a private, expert-led drive that gives you the best chance to spot the Big Five. Venture through the crater with the stunning volcanic backdrop in the distance and see bull elephants, African buffalos, lions, critically endangered black rhinos, and other big game.
After spending the day touring the largest intact volcanic caldera, unwind at a sumptuous lodge that’s equally breathtaking and described as Versailles meets Maasai.
Accommodation: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
Ngorongoro Crater Lodge; one of the most architecturally spectacular safari lodges in Africa, the lodge sits on the edge of the famous "World Heritage Site" of the Ngorongoro Crater. The lodge provides guests with unmatchable views of the crater and interior design inspired by the classic manyatta style of the Maasai culture. Inside the crater, enjoy a private picnic that’s exclusive to guests before you return to your sumptuous oasis in the evening.
Days 5-6
Serengeti National Park
Fly to the great Serengeti’s heart - the Seronera, where the wildlife is as plentiful as the plains are expansive. Enjoy wildlife viewing drives in a completely customized safari vehicle that’s designed for optimal comfort and reliability, and witness the cheetah, bat-eared fox, Maasai giraffe, and elephant that reside in the remote area. Seasonally, the Great Migration of wildebeest and zebra creates an impressive spectacle.
Return to the acclaimed Four Seasons Lodge, where you’ll reside for the next three days. Marvel in the old world elegance of your remote cottage and end each day with a leisurely dip in your private infinity pool. With a blend of authentic European style and East African influences, the lodge’s décor perfectly complements the stunning landscapes you spend your days exploring.
Accommodation: Four Seasons Lodge Serengeti
Tucked away in an exclusive portion of the central Serengeti, the Four Seasons Lodge offers guests a grandiose safari experience. Filled with old-world elegance, every corner of the private cottages and each ingredient used in their world-class spa treatments exudes luxury. End your day with a dip in the infinity pool and take in the extravagance that few people get to enjoy.
