Detailed itinerary

Day 1: 
Arrival Nairobi, Kenya.
 A Shrike Safaris representative will meet and greet you at the airport and escort you to your tonight's hotel, Hemingways Nairobi.

Your room boutique hotel elevates the standard of luxury service for travelers in the region. Beautiful in its symmetry and flooded with natural light, this plantation-style property is airy and spacious. Its 80 square meter bedrooms each have a private balcony overlooking the iconic silhouette of the Ngong Hills.

Day 2: 
Nairobi | Masai Mara Game Reserve

  • Flight: Nairobi, KE (Wilson) to Masai Mara  Departing 1000hrs ‐ Arriving 1100hrs (1hr) 

Soon after having your breakfast, you will be picked up by a Shrike Safaris representative and get transferred to Wilson airport for a private departure to Maasai Mara. Arrive in Mara at lunch time, enjoy your decent lunch then relax for a while at the camp before going for afternoon game viewing.

Day 3:
Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya.
After breakfast depart for game viewing in Masai Mara (You may opt to take packed lunch or drive back to the camp for hot lunch and later afternoon proceed with game viewing). spent a day exploring the park in search of wild creatures including the big 5 and other predators.  
– Optional balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost. 

The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephant. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna- lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena, and vultures.

Day 4:
Masai Mara | Arusha, Tanzania

  • Flight: Masai Mara to Wilson Airport  Departing 1500hrs ‐ Arriving 1600hrs (1hr)           
  • Flight: Wilson Airport to Arusha Airport  Departing 1630hrs – 1800 (1hr30min)                
  • On arrival at Arusha city enjoy a thrilling game drive as you will be picked up at the airstrip by a Shrike Safaris representative and escort you to your tonight's hotel in Arusha, Legendary Lodge just a short drive away.

Legendary Lodge is situated in the middle of a coffee plantation with beautiful gardens. It consists of the main house and bungalows in the grounds. The rooms are luxurious and enormous with huge bathrooms. They are very well appointed, and the decor is in the style of the 1930s.

Day 5:

Arusha City | Serengeti National Park in Tanzania

  • Flight: Arusha Airport to Seronera airstrip  Departing 1000hrs ‐ Arriving 1115hrs (1hr15min)

Soon after having your breakfast, you will be picked up by a Shrike Safaris representative and get transferred to Arusha Airport for a private departure to Maasai Mara. Arrive in the Serengeti at lunch hours, enjoy your decent lunch then relax for a while at the lodge before going for afternoon game viewing.

Day 6:
Serengeti National Park | Game viewing.

After breakfast depart for full day game viewing in the Serengeti (You may opt to take packed lunch or drive back to the lodge for hot lunch and later proceed with game viewing).

Serengeti is arguably the best known for its Great Migration in the world. It is here where millions of large mammals, including herds of wildebeest and zebra and what is so called the 'Big 5' elephant, lion, buffalo, leopard and the rarely seen black rhinoceros. Over 500 species of birds have been recorded in the area, including eagles, bustards, owls, cranes, herons, vultures, and secretary birds. Some of Africa's biggest crocodile lie in wait for thirst wildebeest and Zebra in Serengeti rivers.

You won’t have enough of the Serengeti. As you make your way back to the camp make sure to keep your eyes open for birds, including our very own Shrike, Eastern White-crowned Shrike.

Day 7:
Serengeti | Ngorongoro via Lake Manyara airstrip.
After decent lunch, pack all your belongings and enjoy en-route game viewing as you drive to Seronera airstrip.

  • Flight: Seronera airstrip to Lake Manyara Airstrip  Departing 1600hrs ‐ Arriving 1700hrs

Have an early lunch and, if time allows, fit in one more game drive before being dropped off at Seronera airstrip where you will board your a private jet to Ngorongoro highland via Lake Manyara airstrip. It will be your last chance to see the Serengeti’s vast plains and its diverse range of birds and animals. On arrival at Ngorongoro Highland enjoy a thrilling game viewing as you drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. There will be no other game drive so spend the remaining hours at leisure enjoying walking around the surrounding areas and exploring the lodge’s facilities.

Day 8:
Ngorongoro Crater | Great Rift Valley | Lake Manyara.
After early breakfast descends down the crater for game viewing. At noon drive to the picnic site for lunch while enjoying the scenic view of the Ngorongoro crater. 

The Ngorongoro crater, which has been declared a world heritage site, lies within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area that covers more than 8000 sq.km  With an area of 304 sq. km. the crater is the home of up to 30,000 large mammals. More than 100 species of birds not found in the Serengeti have been recorded here. This is the world's largest unbroken caldera and the 8th wonder of the world.  Our friendly safari guide is always happy to share with you about the behind the scene perspectives about the formation of the caldera, ecological facts and much much more..!

This is the only place in Africa where it is easy to find big cats like lions (5 prides of lions have been recorded), cheetah, clans of a hyena, jackals, serval cats a few to mention. Search out for rarely seen black rhino

Later afternoon ascend up and drive to Lake Mayara Tree Lodge through the green forest of Ngorongoro highland and the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

Day 9:

Ngorongoro Highland | Great Rift Valley | Lake Manyara.

After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park through the Great Rift valley escarpment. Witness the valley! you will have enough time to ask and discuss with your tour guide. Later check in at the park and proceed with game viewing in the park.

Day 10:
Lake Manyara National Park 

After breakfast depart for game viewing in Lake Manyara national park (You may opt to take packed lunch or drive back to the lodge for hot lunch and later afternoon proceed with game viewing) explore the park in search of wild creatures including bird species, tree-climbing lions, and other predators.  

Lake Manyara is famous for tree-climbing lions and pythons. The national park consists of underground natural forest that opens up into woodlands, grassland, and swamps beyond the soda lake itself covering 200 sq. km. Over 400 species of birds have been spotted, including flamingos, pelican, storks, cormorants, egrets, and geese. Our professional safari guide is always happy to share with you lots of behind the scene ideas, why trees in Lake Manyara have adopted climbing trees, how was the Great Rift Valley was formed and much much more..!

Day 11: 
Lake Manyara National Park | Zanzibar Island
After breakfast pack, all your belongings drive to Lake Manyara airstrip to take your private jet to Zanzibar Island

  • Flight: Lake Manyara airstrip to Zanzibar  Departing 1030hrs ‐ Arriving 1200hrs

Day 12: 
Stone Town Tour| Spice tour | Sunset Dhow Cruise. 
 Stone Town is Home to famous Zanzibar Destinations. You can visit the Old Anglican Church, Old Arab Fort, Beit al Ajaib Museum, Livingstone House, Old Indian Dispensary, St Joseph's Cathedral and Slave monuments. 

Late afternoon, step onto the deck of our dhow, relax and let us sail you away on a magical sunset cruise to end your day. The sunset cruise leaves in the late afternoon from in front of the Zanzibar Serena Inn and cruises along the Zanzibar (Unguja) coast, slicing through the clear turquoise water. 
The hustle and bustle of busy people in Stone Town grow faint in the distance until they seem only a memory. Snacks, water, soft drinks and Live music encouraging you to sink back into the cushions and enjoy the romance of Africa while watching the scenery drift by.
