Exactly the Journey They Imagined
Planning a honeymoon is exciting.
It can also feel overwhelming.
Haylea had questions.
Lots of them.
Questions about routes, lodges, hiking, flights, timing and all the little details that somehow become important when you're planning the biggest trip of your lives.
Every email was answered.
Every idea was welcomed.
Rather than choosing from a fixed itinerary, they found themselves designing a journey that reflected who they were.
They wanted to climb the volcanic slopes of Ol Doinyo Lengai before sunrise.
They wanted to descend into the lush Empakaai Crater.
They wanted days on safari, followed by the slower rhythm of Zanzibar.
Nothing felt off the shelf.
By the time they stepped out of Kilimanjaro Airport, after two long days of travel, they weren't wondering whether everything would work.
They already knew they were in good hands.
"Shrike is one of those companies you can trust... They were very willing to tailor the trip to exactly what we wanted."

More Than The Big Five
The wildlife exceeded every expectation.
With Dixon guiding them across the plains, they found every member of Africa's Big Five.
But what they remembered wasn't simply what they saw.
It was how they experienced it.
Dixon never hurried from one sighting to the next.
He noticed movement long before they did.
A flick of an ear above the grass.
A distant shape resting beneath an acacia tree.
The quiet confidence of elephants moving together across the plains.
When a lioness rested with her cubs nearby, there was no rush to take photographs.
Instead, Dixon explained what they were watching—why the cubs stayed close, why the lioness kept scanning the horizon, and how every movement told part of the story.
The safari became more than a collection of sightings.
It became an understanding of the world unfolding around them.
"Dixon ensured that we saw as many animals as we could... We truly learned SO much."

From Savannah to Sea
After the wide-open landscapes of northern Tanzania came something entirely different.
Stone Town.
Its narrow streets invited wandering rather than rushing.
Heavy wooden doors hinted at centuries of history.
The scent of cloves drifted through the warm afternoon air.
Simon welcomed them not simply to Zanzibar, but to his home.
As they explored together, stories of the island became every bit as memorable as its beaches.
The journey hadn't changed direction.
It had simply slowed down.
"Simon was incredibly hospitable and welcomed us graciously to his island."

The Surprise They Never Saw Coming
Some moments stay with you because they're extraordinary.
Others because someone quietly noticed something that mattered.
Somewhere between climbing volcanoes, watching wildlife and exploring Zanzibar, Ryan's birthday arrived.
They hadn't mentioned it again.
There had been no reminders.
No expectations.
Dinner began like any other evening.
Then someone appeared carrying a bottle of wine.
Moments later, a birthday cake followed.
Ryan looked surprised.
Haylea smiled.
Neither of them had expected anyone to remember.
The cake was beautiful.
The wine was thoughtful.
But what they carried home wasn't either of those things.
It was the quiet realization that, throughout weeks of planning and two unforgettable weeks in Tanzania, someone had been paying attention.
"They even surprised my husband with a bottle of wine and cake on his birthday."

Traveler Reflection
"My husband and I are incredibly thankful to Shrike for all that they did to make our honeymoon in Tanzania one of the best trips of our lives. My husband and I have never booked a travel company prior to Shrike, as we are typically more of a do-it-yourself couple, but we were SO glad we did for this trip. I will be recommending Shrike Safaris to all of our friends and family."
