The 360° Impact Safari

Travel That Gives Back
— Thoughtfully and Respectfully

Shrike Safaris believes meaningful travel should extend beyond the journey itself.

The 360° Impact Safari was created for travelers who want their safari to carry purpose alongside beauty — supporting local communities in a way that is respectful, considered, and genuinely helpful.

This is not charity tourism.
It is quiet, intentional impact, woven naturally into a thoughtfully designed journey.

The Beginning of a Conversation

In June 2016, John and Christine Carney travelled to Tanzania with friends for a private family safari through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro.

What began as an unforgettable journey through the wild soon became something deeper.

Back in Mwanza, John and Mark Madola James, founder of Shrike Safaris, sat down together over tea at the Gold Crest Hotel. They shared stories of their work, their values, and their belief that travel could be a force for good when approached with care.

Out of that quiet conversation, a lasting partnership was formed.

A Safari With a Deeper Purpose

In early 2017, Shrike Safaris partnered with Busega Scotland to support the Mayega Children’s Centre, providing care, education, and opportunity for orphaned and vulnerable children in Tanzania.

From this partnership emerged the 360° Impact Safari — a journey designed with the same artistry, privacy, and attention as every Shrike safari, yet guided by one defining principle:

100% of the proceeds support the children at Mayega.

What Makes This Different

The 360° Impact Safari is not an add-on.

It is not a marketing label.
It is not a performance.

It is an extension of Shrike Safaris’ long-standing commitment to operating responsibly and locally.

Impact is integrated quietly — just like our safaris.

Why The 360° Impact Safari Matters

“Having the support of Shrike Safaris is very important to vulnerable children at Mayega. It means they can go to school, eat well, and know that people in Tanzania — and all over the world — truly care.”

— John Carney, Founder of Busega Scotland

Not every journey is measured by the miles you travel.

Some are defined by the lives you touch.

How Your Safari Creates Impact

When you choose a 360° Impact Safari:

  • A 100% of the proceeds from your journey supports trusted local initiatives

  • Contributions go directly to projects assisting orphans and vulnerable children

  • Support focuses on long-term needs rather than short-term gestures

  • Shrike Safaris remains actively involved and accountable

Your role is simple:
Travel thoughtfully.
Be present.

Let your journey carry meaning.

Optional, Respectful Engagement

Some travelers wish to include a brief visit or interaction.
Others prefer their contribution to remain unseen.

Both choices are equally respected.

If a visit is included:

  • It is arranged carefully and privately

  • It is guided with cultural sensitivity

  • It prioritizes dignity, not photography

  • It is never compulsory

There is no expectation — only choice.

Who This Experience Is For

The 360° Impact Safari is well-suited for travelers who:

  • Care about where their money goes

  • Value thoughtful, responsible travel

  • Prefer subtle impact over public recognition

  • Want their journey to carry meaning beyond themselves

You do not need to be an activist.
You simply need to care.

Your Safari Remains Fully Tailor-Made

Choosing the 360° Impact Safari does not change the quality, pacing, or personalization of your journey.

You still receive:

  • Private guides and vehicles

  • Carefully selected lodges and camps

  • Balanced pacing

  • Seamless logistics

The only difference is that your journey quietly contributes to something larger.

Begin With a Conversation

If the idea of traveling with intention resonates with you, we would be honored to design a 360° Impact Safari around your interests, pace, and travel style.

Your first step is simply a conversation.
