Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions outline the basis on which Shrike Safaris designs and arranges tailor-made journeys. By confirming a booking with Shrike Safaris, you acknowledge and accept the following terms.

If anything is unclear, we encourage you to ask — transparency and communication are central to how we work.

About Shrike Safaris

Shrike Safaris is a locally based tour operator in East Africa specializing in tailor-made safaris and private journeys in Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and Zanzibar.

Each journey is individually designed based on the traveler’s interests, pace, and preferences.

Booking & Confirmation

  • All journeys are custom-designed following a consultation.

  • A 30% deposit is required to confirm a booking.

  • Once the deposit is received and written confirmation is issued by Shrike Safaris, the booking is considered confirmed.

Pricing

  • All prices are quoted per person unless otherwise stated.

  • Prices are based on current costs of accommodation, transport, park fees, and services at the time of quotation.

  • Quotes are subject to availability and may change prior to confirmation.

  • Once a booking is confirmed, the quoted price is guaranteed unless changes are requested by the traveler.

Payments

  • A 30% non-refundable deposit is required at confirmation.

  • The remaining balance will be due prior to travel, as specified in your booking confirmation.

  • Payments may be made via bank transfer, credit/ debit cards, or other agreed methods.

Cancellations by the Traveler

Because Shrike Safaris designs tailor-made journeys and makes advance commitments to lodges, camps, and service providers, the following applies:

  • The 30% deposit is strictly non-refundable.

  • Any amount paid above the 30% deposit may be converted into a Shrike Journey Credit.

Shrike Journey Credit

Shrike Journey Credit is offered as a gesture of goodwill while acknowledging that design work and supplier payments have already taken place.

  • Shrike Journey Credit may be applied toward a future Shrike Safaris journey within 36 months (3 years) of the original departure date.

  • The credit is valid for the original traveler or may be transferred once to friends or immediate family.

  • The credit has no cash value and is not redeemable for a refund.

  • New journeys are subject to availability and prevailing rates at the time of rebooking.

Cancellations Within 30 Days of Travel

For cancellations made within 30 days of arrival, 100% of the total journey cost is forfeited.

No Shrike Journey Credit can be offered within this period, as services will already have been paid in full to suppliers.

Exceptional Circumstances

In exceptional situations, Shrike Safaris will always review circumstances with care and work to find the most reasonable solution possible within supplier policies.

Reduction of Booking Value

If a confirmed booking is reduced by guest numbers or by total invoice amount, the reduction will be treated as a partial cancellation.

The same cancellation terms apply to the cancelled portion.

Changes to Itineraries

  • If changes are requested after confirmation, we will do our best to accommodate them, subject to availability and possible additional costs.

  • Shrike Safaris reserves the right to make minor adjustments due to operational, weather, or safety considerations while maintaining the overall quality and intent of the journey.

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended for all travelers and should cover:

  • Trip cancellation or interruption

  • Medical expenses

  • Emergency evacuation

  • Personal belongings

Health & Fitness

Travelers are responsible for ensuring they are medically fit for travel and must inform Shrike Safaris of any relevant medical conditions or special requirements.

Passports, Visas & Vaccinations

Travelers are responsible for ensuring they meet all passport validity, visa, and health entry requirements.

Shrike Safaris can provide guidance, but final responsibility rests with the traveler.

Responsibility & Liability

Shrike Safaris acts as an organizer of services provided by independent suppliers.

While we take great care in selecting reputable partners, Shrike Safaris cannot accept responsibility for:

  • Injury, illness, loss, or damage

  • Delays or cancellations caused by third parties

  • Events beyond our control (force majeure)

Force Majeure

Shrike Safaris shall not be liable for failure to perform obligations due to circumstances beyond our control, including natural disasters, pandemics, government restrictions, or acts of war.

Photography & Marketing

Shrike Safaris may occasionally use guest photographs or testimonials for marketing purposes. Please inform us in writing if you prefer not to have your images used.

Privacy & Data Protection

Personal information is used solely for arranging your journey and communicating with you. We do not sell or share personal data beyond what is necessary for travel arrangements.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Tanzania.
